Forensic Investigations

Building structures are like people; they sometimes need a doctor. Whether it is a change in use, a historic rehabilitation or there is a broken component that needs to be addressed, we are experts in doing this work.

Our expertise was earned by spending long hours with tape measures and flashlights, crawling in attics and crawl spaces, those areas of the building that were long ago forgotten by the building occupants. You can’ t be afraid to get dirty if you are going to do this work. Being a good forensic engineer requires a strong technical knowledge and even stronger level of curiosity. You need a strong understanding of materials and building science from decades and even centuries prior. In a way we are puzzle solvers and nothing brings more satisfaction than solving one of the mysteries that led to receiving the assignment to figure out what is going on in the building or determining what modifications have to be made so that a building use can be changed.
